Immersion Space
I would love to build an immersive room on campus, building off of my work with a roving guitarstand and responsive setup. I'd love to:
- run experiments with my old system to measure whether the immersive experience causes guitarists to lose themselves more in their playing vs without.
- upgrade this experience to be like in-real-life guitar hero; when you play well, the room gives you a subtle acknowledgement/reward.
- build a 'comfort tunable' room, where chairs, temperature, etc can be subtly adjusted to be more or less comfortable based on whether your activity is a 'productive' one.
- test prototypes that bring back aspects of tangible experience, but mixed with intelligence/digital world, to provide a better experience than both the old and the new. Records vs Spotify; smart shelves; smart books; how/what do we want to retain and why?
- outfit the room to deeply measure, track, and study anyone who is inside, and set it up so that student volunteers actually spend time in it and we can measure their experience. Video recording, surveys, physiology, behavioral measures, etc.
- tools to measure and modify media content in the room (and out in the world)--HDMI capture and analysis tool that can be attached to any HDMI cable.
- the goal is to demonstrate cool experiences first.
