In this project, we had to use the Vinyl Cutter and the Laser Cutter to print some kind of design.
For the Vinyl Cutter, I printed an Apple logo to put over the Apple logo on my computer.
For the Laser cutter, I used a model I created of a pyramid and stand to make a fitting wood cut.
My idea was to create an Apple logo sticker I could put over the apple logo on my computer. Because I did it in the alternate IRL lab, I had to set up the software and parameters myself. Eventually, I got it working and was able to print and stick the design.
The idea for this piece of the project was a pyramid that would snap together and a stand that it would be able to stand up on. Unfortunately, due to unforseen constrains with my design and the machine it was overall a failure, with certain pieces falling off and the overall product being unfavorable. In the future, I will change some of the spacing and parameters such that the print will be more effective. Through this piece of the project, I learned how to model a design to be assembled in 3D, and how to use the laser printer most effectively. I had never done anything in this category before, so unforseen consequences were to be expected and learned from.
