Home About Me Weekly Projects Final Project

For this week's vinyl-cutting assignment, I was inspired by the Andy Warhol style. I wanted to try colorblocking with different vinyl colors, and decided to use the Autobot logo to do this.

For this week's laser cutting project, I wanted to try and make a simple diorama. This one is Deltarune themed, and a recreation of a scene in the game. The box, as well as the figures are snap-fit.

The first step was creating all of my assets. I created most of them using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, but I also used Solidworks.

I cut my box out of thick acrylic, since I liked the look of a clear acrylic base for my diorama.

I tried to use a mix of cutting and engraving of my wooden detail pieces.

Surprisingly, the hardest part wasn't accounting for the tolerances of my snap-fits and the kerf of my laser. It was simply accounting for all of the pieces I wanted to include in my diorama, as well as getting power-scaling to work properly on some of my pieces.
