During our introduction to The Forge, I was tasked to find inspiration for a project idea. I was slightly lost because I didn't know the constraints of the project besides the methods we could use. My search was motivated by the problems in my life that I wanted to solve: sleep, productivity, and physical/mental wellbeing.
Project Ideation
MyCircadian Lamp tracks sleep patterns and sleep cycle and wakes you up at the optimal time and winds you down before bed
using different intensities and colors of light and noise. This solves the problem of having a disjointed relationship between
sleep pattern and environmental cues. The user can input their go to bed time and wake up time which
will be adjusted by your natural sleep cycle. Then, the lamp will use a light to simulate sunrise in the morning and a warm
light to simulate sunset in the evening.
I was motivated to create this project because sleep consistency and quality has been a struggle for me. These problems
have impacted my productivity and mood throughout the day. By creating a customizable sleep environment, I hope to
create lasting habits that will improve my sleep quality and consistency.

Rutger Oomkes' Final Project and Burak Turkoz's Final Project: An addition to this lamp is life-like qualities that would
make the lamp more interactive with the environment. For example, when waking up the lamp could "stretch" and rise like
flowers in the morning. In the evening, the lamp could curl down and face away from the user to create a more
ambient, calming environment.
Elena Cardiel's Final Project: This project takes care of light economy and sustainability as it manipulates light to fit
the environment. This saves energy and smartly adapts to the environment to light up what is needed. I would like to add
this feature to my lamp but with moving lamp heads that will direct light to where it is needed.
Productivity Companion that uses the Pomodoro technique to help you stay focused and take breaks. Kind of like a Tamogotchi
that you have to take care of by staying focused and taking breaks. If you don't stay focused, it will get sad and if you
don't take breaks, it will get tired. Your productivity companion will be a small device that sits on your
desk and uses sounds and visuals to help you stay focused and take breaks.

Pomodachi: To innovate on this idea, I would like to add sensors in the device that can detect when the user's focus
goes away from the work and remind the user to stay focused through visual and audio feedback. Furthermore, I would like
to add a similar feature but for when the device detects when the user is getting tired and remind the user to take a break.
Lastly, customization of the timer intervals would make the device more personal to the user's needs.
"chew your food" spoon is a spoon that vibrates if you don't chew your food enough times before swallowing
to help with digestion and mindfulness during meals. The spoon will use sensors to detect when a person brings their
spoon up to their mouth and then put the spoon down to their plate. The spoon will detect if
the time between these two actions are too short and vibrate to remind the user to chew their food more.
Fun Side Idea: This idea was mainly inspired by Casey Neistat's vlogs in which his main mode of transportation
was electric skateboards. My main forms of commuting are by bike, which uses mechanical energy, and by car, which uses gas.
So it would be great to build an electric skateboard to commute more efficiently. The skateboard would be controlled by
a handheld remote that would allow the user to control the speed and braking which signals to the motor in the rear wheels
to move forward or backward. To make the project more interesting, I would love to make the skateboard portable + modular with a
swappable and upgradable battery capacity so that it can be easily transported and customized. For example, modifications for
longer distances could include a longboard deck and more batteries for more range. Or for short and portable requirements,
a smaller deck with less batteries for easier carry can be used. Additionally, I could also add brake lights and solar charging
capabilities for extra spice.
