Week 5

This week was 3D design: using a 3d Scanner and in designing and printing a 3D modeling with additive manufacturing

The ferret scanner was extremely easy to use, and my scan itself turned out pretty well! The creality software automatically fills in holes and colors the scan, although I had to fix some bits by hand (ha ha). Overall it was pretty good.

I made my 3D design that I was going to print fairly simple. It is based off of one of the first 3D prints I had ever done: a sphere inside an open cube. I purposely kept it simple and small due to print time as well.

While I (very sadly) forgot to take any pictures of the actual printing, I was able to print on my first try with almost no issue. One of the support trees was knocked over during printing. However, I was lucky that it only caused some extra build-up on one of the edges.

Additionally, the bottom of the sphere was given a flat bottom as support that, unfortunately, stuck on the sphere after printing and did not fall off like the support trees. Thanks to a very helpful Christian, however, we were able to file it down into a ball like shape. This week was a great success!
