Week 14 is the first part of machine week. The assignment of this week was to design a machine as a group. We decided to make a single player air hockey table. One side of the table is a normal air hockey table, but the other side is populated by 4 stepper motors that control the other paddle using cable driven plotter architecture. Cable driven plotters are capable of greater speed than a gantry system, making this an obvious choice. A high FPS camera mounted above the table tracks the puck, then moves the paddle to hit the puck.
